About Gamayyar Direbobin Nigeria

Born from the shared struggles and dreams of Nigerian professional drivers, Gamayyar Direbobin Nigeria (GDN) has grown from a small group of 500 passionate drivers in 2008 to become the nation's premier drivers' network, proudly serving over 100,000 members across all 37 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Our story began when a group of dedicated drivers recognized that individual voices, no matter how passionate, often go unheard. But together, united under one vision, we could create lasting change. What started as weekend meetings in Lagos has evolved into a comprehensive support system that provides legal protection, professional training, and community empowerment to drivers from every corner of Nigeria.

Today, GDN Nigeria stands as more than just a network – we are a family, a movement, and a beacon of hope for every professional driver who believes in the dignity of their work and the power of collective action. Every day, we witness the transformation of lives, the protection of livelihoods, and the elevation of the driving profession from mere employment to a respected career path.

Our Journey: From Vision to Reality

The idea for GDN Nigeria was born on a rainy evening in 2007 when five commercial drivers found themselves stranded at a police checkpoint in Lagos. What should have been a routine stop turned into hours of harassment and extortion. That night, as they shared their experiences, they realized that their individual struggles were part of a larger systemic problem affecting thousands of drivers across Nigeria.

"We cannot continue to suffer in silence," declared Alhaji Musa Garba, one of the founding members. "Our children deserve to see their fathers' work respected, our families deserve security, and our profession deserves dignity." These words became the rallying cry that would unite drivers from Sokoto to Calabar, from Maiduguri to Lagos.
